The third round of the Campeonato Carioca, the Rio de Janeiro state championship, took place this past weekend at the Barra Off-Road track. Organized by ACM, the championship attracts more and more racers from round to round, and with the new beginners category, the organizers were truly innovating, the youngest racer being 5 years old! In the Buggy Nitro class, Thomas Gisler, after having demonstrated his speed both in Qualify and Semi-Finals as he took the lead after 5 minutes race time and never let it go again. Driving his REDS powered Mugen MBX-7 very consistent and with fast lap times, he left Jordan Barros in second place. Rodrigo Nakad and Roberto Oliveira took the fight for 3rd place into the last lap, with Rodrigo keeping the better end with less than a second to spare.
In the Buggy EP class, once again Jordan Barros showed that he is the man to beat. His Tekin powered Mugen MBX6 Eco was closely followed by Marcio Castro (Mugen / Hobbyking), but with some amazing last laps Jordan was able to break the track record and stay in the lead, leaving Marcio in second place and Atila Cardinal on his Associated in third.
In the Truggy Nitro class, Marcelo Clare and his Mugen took another clear win, followed by Truggy Class newcomer Alexandre Felicio (Mugen / Reds) and Gerd Eisele with his Alpha powered Xray.
In the beginner’s category, ACM is giving an incentive for kids to start racing. If it has an engine, wheels and is radio controlled, the rookies can participate in the beginner’s class. Have a look at their celebration with the trophies, their smiles, and no more words are needed. Full success and definitely something to repeat in the rounds to come!
